GIVING IS RECEIVING
A Year in Review,
There is so much for us to take in every single day—millions of thoughts, feelings,
emotions, and events happening within and around us. In every moment, we are the
ones experiencing both the darkness and the light. We are the vessels that carry it all,
and at the end of the day, we feel the weight and wonder of it as we climb into bed.
This individual experience we each live is also part of a collective one.
I am that too. You are me, and I am you, and together, we are in this. Treat others
the way you want to be treated. I love myself so much, so I can love you so much, so
you can love yourself so much, so you can start loving me.
GIVING IS RECEIVING
This past year has been the fastest of my life. In the blink of an eye, my son Sylas
turned 2, and I’m now expecting a daughter who will arrive at the end of April. My
mother is in memory care with dementia, and my brother lives far enough away that
we, unfortunately, don’t get the quality time we wish for. Yet, with all that said, my
vessel is full—ready for more work, observation, love, growth, and mystery.
As the year comes to an end, I leave my hands open. I will continue to lead in my
world. I promise to be a good citizen and live by the principle of "see something, do
something." It is our reality to shape—no one else’s. We are the ones we’ve been
waiting for. So no matter your age or situation, surprise yourself and others. Step out
of your comfort zone and see how you show up.
Thank you all for your love and support over the last year. May you have a restful
week as we head into the new year.
Best Wishes,
Matthew
