Late Sunday Afternoon

To My Dearest Community,

I am expecting a baby girl at the end of April! As I head into this amazing portal yet again, I have begun a dieta.
A dieta is typically done before a medicine ceremony; it prepares the spirit for a shift and lets the ego know it is no longer needed for this part of the journey. My daughter being born, for me, is a ceremony. I have begun to cleanse myself of my vices — whether it be the pot I smoke, the violent entertainment that sometimes catches my interest in the form of a Mission Impossible movie, but especially the news these days.

NEWS FATIGUE IS REAL

Let's all take a moment to think about our lives before the 24-hour news cycle. Before we thought about global affairs and all the movements of politicians and how they sneak into our lives. We used to give our vote and entrust these people to have values and do their best on behalf of us.

Though, these days with Citizens United and the homogenization of the new media, we find ourselves not on common ground with our own neighbors. Today, we are constantly being pushed and told what is toxic, what is wrong, what to feel, when to feel — we are herded like sheep.

This is totally foreign to our spirit. It is not a normal thing for us to live like this and in most cases, it is even foreign to our DNA. Today, we are experiencing adrenal gland fatigue from the constant cycles we are put through. It does not help that our cell phones keep our egos company and our brains activated even when we want to sleep.

Please stay active and involved, yes — but do yourself a favor as I have and take a break from the modern carousel of the news. Do your own objective readings, check your sources, Google who owns what. Be in doubt and ask questions.

We as people have way more in common than we are different. We have a collective human history of overcoming darkness and evil. Be the change you wish to see in the world!

Mostly though, take a break and soak up the sun. Give your kids or spouse more eye contact and attention. Go for a walk and spend some money at a small local shop. Break on through to the other side. It is we who have been waiting for.

All my Love,
