Late Sunday Afternoon

HAPPY HALLOWEEN,

It’s amazing that we’re already at the end of October. Collectively, we've all been
through so much this year. It feels like each year time moves faster and faster,
and the culture of 'Me' often speeds it along. We find ourselves focused on how

we can optimize life for ourselves.

In doing so, we often forget to give gratitude to those who came before us. These
individuals—through both their good and bad choices, their consequences, and

their lessons—paved the way for us. As we head into another election season in
America, it’s a fitting time to reflect on our culture, both within and around us.

The way you speak to yourself is a reflection of how you cope with the legacy
handed down to you by your ancestors, as well as a mark of your personal journey
of discovery. There is no age limit to this journey, and it will continue long after
we’re gone. Use this time of year to think about how you’re showing up in the

world.

Are you the type of person who complains but never takes action?
Are you the type who takes action but imposes on others?
Are you happy with the way you engage with your world?

Or do you feel weighed down by it?

These soul-searching questions offer a powerful opportunity for self-reflection and
for practicing the inner art of authenticity. Be gentle and mindful with yourself as
you consider the things you have the power to change and the things that require

practice and ritual to shift.

I believe in you,

Matthew
